About Me

I’ve always loved personal finance. I still remember filling out my first savings account passbook when I was a kid. I’m that dork who listens to money podcasts and reads finance books for fun. I hate that money is such a taboo topic because I think it would make the world a better place if people talked about and learned about personal finance.

I grew up watching my parents manage money. They saved and spent thoughtfully and never hid that process from us kids. Mom is still proud of that one frugal summer we lived off the savings in her sock drawer. And my Dad, who was a very practical finance guy, sat me down after graduation and showed me all my shiny new loans. It's funny to tell it now - “my dad's graduation present to me was a big bill” - but all of it set me up with a great financial foundation.

I'm also a millennial. I graduated into the Great Recession and hit mid-career during the Pandemic. Not great timing. First, it was my friends’ or family’s worlds that were turned upside down with a layoff or lost opportunity, then it was mine. I saw how important understanding not just finances, but in particular your own finances, gives you safety and resilience in turbulent times.

And now I am excited to help others find their own clarity and confidence in their money.
